Blue Man Group is finally headed to Broadway.

The three bald and blue performers will bring A New Holiday Surprise to the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre this holiday season, in what was announced as their first Broadway staging, Deadline reported in an exclusive published Sept. 23.

Previews begin Nov. 12, 2026. Opening night is set for Nov. 17. The run is strictly limited, meaning it has a set closing date, through Jan. 3, 2027.

It is also the group's first touring holiday production. The same show will play Chicago's CIBC Theatre from Nov. 24 to Dec. 13, 2026, then move to the Boch Center-Wang Theatre in Boston from Dec. 15 to Dec. 23.

The producers bill A New Holiday Surprise as an all-new festive spectacular. Broadway In Chicago describes it as a reimagining of the season through the group's blend of music, comedy and art.

That mix is familiar to longtime fans. The act centers on three silent, blue-painted characters who drum, splash paint and turn everyday materials into instruments. The lineup includes the Drumbone, which is half drum and half trombone, along with paint-covered drums and a large Big Drum, according to Blue Man Group.

The group says it splashes through 18,000 buckets of paint per year. It has visited 25 countries and played to more than 50 million people worldwide.

New York audiences knew the show Off-Broadway. Blue Man Group opened at the Astor Place Theatre in 1991 and closed there in 2025 after a run of more than three decades.

For fans, this means a short winter window in three cities. Boston tickets for Dec. 15-23 are on sale now, with prices starting at $35 at the box office, according to the Boch Center.
