Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 15 years in prison after a New York retrial jury convicted him of sexually assaulting Miriam Haley.

The sentence was reported by ABC News on Sept. 23, 2026. The jury had found Weinstein guilty of first-degree criminal sex act, a felony under New York law, for the 2006 assault.

Prosecutors said the assault took place at Weinstein's Manhattan apartment. Haley testified that he pushed her into a bedroom there and sexually assaulted her.

Haley is a former television production assistant who has also used the name Mimi Haleyi. The first-degree criminal sex act charge carried a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.

The case has a long history in the criminal justice system. Weinstein was first publicly accused of wrongdoing in 2017 and arrested in 2018. In March 2020, he was sentenced to 23 years in prison after convictions for assaulting Haley and raping Jessica Mann in 2013.

That conviction did not stand. In 2024, New York's highest court overturned it and ordered a new trial. The court ruled Weinstein had been prejudiced by testimony from women whose allegations were not part of the case against him.

The retrial focused again on the allegation from Haley. Jurors convicted Weinstein on the criminal sex act count tied to the 2006 incident. He has already served more than six years in prison as the case cycled through appeals and retrial.

Not every count in the new proceedings resulted in a verdict. Weinstein's third New York rape trial ended in a mistrial, meaning jurors could not reach a unanimous decision, according to Reuters. A mistrial ends that trial without a conviction or acquittal.

Weinstein faces other criminal exposure. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. announced an additional indictment of Weinstein for sexually assaulting a woman, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. An indictment is a formal charge. Weinstein was 72 years old at the time that additional indictment was announced.

Separately, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison following a rape conviction, as reported by Reuters. That sentence is distinct from the New York cases and the new 15-year term imposed after the Haley retrial conviction.
