Angine de Poitrine Win Polaris Album and Song Prizes in Toronto

Quebec rock duo Angine de Poitrine won both top honours at the 2026 Polaris Concert & Award Ceremony in Toronto. The duo took the Polaris Music Prize for the album Vol. II and the SOCAN Polaris Song Prize for the song "Fabienk." The double win was confirmed on Sept. 22 at Massey Hall, after the duo performed "Fabienk" live, Billboard reported.
The Polaris Music Prize is awarded to the Canadian album of the year, judged solely on artistic merit rather than sales or chart position. The 2026 edition was presented by CBC. The ceremony was powered by FACTOR, the fund that supports Canadian recorded music.
There is money attached to each award. The album prize carries $30,000 in cash, courtesy of the Slaight Family Foundation. The song prize carries $10,000, split between the songwriters and performers.
The two awards were announced together from the Massey Hall stage. Singer-songwriter Jeremy Dutcher and SOCAN chief membership officer Tanya van Luven named Angine de Poitrine as the winner of both prizes. Sébastien Collin, the duo's manager, accepted and spoke on their behalf at the ceremony.
Angine de Poitrine faced nine other acts on the album shortlist. The other nominees were Rochelle Jordan, Begonia, Peaches, Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Tanya Tagaq, Les Louanges, Charlotte Cornfield, Aquakultre and Bibi Club. The song prize for "Fabienk" was decided by a vote of the Polaris jury, CBC reported.
This year also brought a change to how the main winner was picked. Instead of an 11-person grand jury making the final call, the decision went to the full 205-person voting pool. That pool includes broadcasters, writers, programmers and other music professionals from across Canada.
What makes this stand out is the breadth of the result. One act left with recognition for a full album and for a single song on the same night. For fans, this means both Vol. II and "Fabienk" will now carry the Polaris name into the autumn release season.
