Ricardo Dar\u00edn's Therapy Done Right Heads to Netflix After San Sebastian Premiere

Ricardo Darín's new film will move from a festival red carpet to living rooms around the world in less than a month. "Therapy Done Right" ("Lo dejamos acá") held its world premiere, meaning its very first public screening, at the San Sebastian Festival in Spain. It is set to stream worldwide on Netflix on Oct. 16, according to Variety.
The wait is short. Festival guests saw it first. Everyone else gets it next.
Darín presented the Spanish-language film at San Sebastián, as listed by Reuters Connect. The connection with the festival is visible everywhere this year. Darín is the face of the official poster for the 74th edition, as confirmed by the San Sebastian Festival. That puts one of Argentina's best-known screen actors at the front of one of Europe's best-known film events.
Behind the camera is Hernán Goldfrid. He directed the film for Kenya Films, the production company behind it, meaning the company carried the project from shoot to finished cut. It is not his first work with Darín. The pair previously made "Thesis on a Homicide" together. The starting point for this story, an early treatment or plot outline, came from writer Emmanuel Díez.
In front of the camera, Diego Peretti plays a writer wrestling with creative block, meaning he cannot get new work onto the page. Darín stars opposite him. The two actors carry a story built around that stall. Darín and Goldfrid spoke about the project to Variety at the Maria Cristina Hotel in San Sebastián during the festival.
San Sebastian has celebrated Darín for years. Back in 2017, The Hollywood Reporter reported the festival would honour the Argentine actor with a lifetime award. Nine years on, he is back with a new release and his image on the key art for the edition.
For viewers, this means no long guessing game. A festival launch often leaves audiences waiting months for tickets or a streaming date. Here the next step is fixed and close. The film leaves the festival circuit and lands on Netflix in October, released worldwide in one go.
