Andra Day, Len Cariou to Lead Drama Don't Go Gentle

Andra Day will lead the drama Don't Go Gentle as Tanya Jenkins, a U.S. Army veteran fighting to clear her name after a wrongful conviction, with Len Cariou co-starring as retired judge Lawrence Driver, Deadline reported on 24 September.
The story is set in modern-day Buffalo. Tanya is a mother and honourably discharged Army medic, and her bid for justice pulls her into the orbit of Lawrence and his family.
The wider ensemble fills out both households. Lonnie Chavis plays Rasheed, Tanya's teenage son, while Teyonah Parris plays Ellen, her half-sister, according to Deadline. On the judge's side, Alexandra Daddario plays Amelia, Lawrence's architect daughter, and Finn Wittrock plays Ben, his troubled son.
Deborah Riley Draper writes and directs the film. It is reworked from the play of the same name by Stephen Belber, moving the stage story to the screen.
Gerard Butler, Alan Siegel and Dan Kaslow are producing under the G-BASE banner, alongside Crystine Zhang for Oval-5 and Coffee Bluff Pictures, Deadline reported. Executive producers are Ashley Thornton Harrison, Tyler Levine, Len Cariou, Roxann Thomas Chargois and Heather Cariou. That credit typically covers financing and senior creative support rather than day-to-day production work.
What makes this stand out is the pairing at the centre. Day arrives as an Oscar-nominated lead. Cariou brings decades of stage and screen work. Their characters sit on opposite sides of the legal system, and the film will rest on that collision.
