Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Day Drinker, a revenge thriller starring Johnny Depp alongside Madelyn Cline and Penélope Cruz, ahead of a theatrical release on 26 March 2027, according to Deadline.

The film centres on a private-yacht bartender played by Cline. She meets a mysterious onboard guest played by Depp. Both are then pulled into the orbit of a criminal figure played by Cruz.

It is directed by Marc Webb from a script by Zach Dean, Deadline reports. Webb is best known for large studio releases, while Dean wrote the submarine thriller story that became The Tomorrow War.

The new pairing has history. Day Drinker is the fourth film to co-star Depp and Cruz, after Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Murder on the Orient Express, according to Deadline. That run stretches back more than two decades.

The teaser leans into mood over plot. Lionsgate UK’s preview uses a dramatic voiceover and tarot card imagery, as seen in its teaser post. Depp’s voice cuts through with the line, “Don’t you sometimes want to misbehave?”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

For fans, this means a busy stretch for Depp on screen. First footage from Ebenezer, Ti West’s remake of A Christmas Carol starring Depp, emerged in July, and that film is listed for release on Nov. 13, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Separately, Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer said in an August interview that Depp was actively in talks to return for Pirates 6.
