Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Day Drinker, its thriller starring Johnny Depp, Madelyn Cline and Penélope Cruz.

The film is directed by Marc Webb and is set for theatres on 26 March 2027, according to Variety. That date plants it in the early spring corridor, well clear of the summer blockbuster rush.

The story centres on Cline as a private-yacht bartender. She encounters a mysterious guest, played by Depp, during the voyage. Cruz co-stars in the ensemble.

The rollout began with a short teaser. It runs 19 seconds long, according to Yahoo. One brief shot shows a deck of tarot cards laid out on a table.

Day Drinker reteams Depp and Cruz, who have appeared together on screen before, for a thriller made for Lionsgate, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lionsgate had earlier circulated a first look at Depp in character ahead of full footage.

For fans, this means a first proper glimpse of the tone. A yacht, a stranger and tarot cards point to a closed-circle mystery where no one quite knows who to trust.

Webb directs from that setup. He is best known for large studio releases, and here he works with a small principal cast in a single, isolated location.

More detail is expected as the March 2027 release approaches. For now, the trailer gives the names, the setting and the date to hold.
