You now decide what Elizabeth Bennet does next. Chooseco, the publisher behind the Choose Your Own Adventure series, has launched CYOA Unbound, an imprint — a separately branded list inside a publisher with its own titles and look — for adult readers.

The announcement was reported on 24 September 2026, with publication to begin in Fall 2027, according to Publishers Marketplace. That schedule gives bookshops more than a year to plan orders and shelf space.

CYOA Unbound will publish reimagined classics, horror, mysteries, thrillers, romance and more in the classic multiple-ending style. Readers pick a path at the end of a passage, turn to the page shown, and get a different plot and ending depending on the choice.

The first titles include a retelling of Pride and Prejudice. The first two CYOA Unbound titles are both novels, according to Publishers Weekly.

Shannon Gilligan is chief executive and publisher of Chooseco. The company is best known for kid-focused books where young readers control the story, as noted by Gizmodo.

CYOA Unbound is described as the first-ever Choose Your Own Adventure imprint dedicated to publishing nonlinear, multiple-ending gamebooks for adults. Nonlinear here means the story does not run straight from start to finish. A gamebook is a novel with branching routes and different outcomes.

The wider list is organised by age and series. Chooseco publishes New Classics for middle-grade readers, emerging young adult fiction for ages 11 and up, and adult titles under CYOA Unbound. Its official site presents CYOA Unbound as Choose Your Own Adventure books for adults.

For readers who grew up on the favourite childhood format, this means familiar rules with older material. Classics, scares, crimes and love stories, all with the turn-to-page choice intact. No review, no ranking. Just pick a path and see where it leads.
