Netflix Orders Sesame Street Film, Extends Series to Season 62 in Kids Push
Netflix is developing a new Sesame Street film and has locked the flagship series in through Season 62.
The film comes from Sesame Workshop and Rideback, the company run by Netflix film chairman Dan Lin, according to Variety. That is a long runway for Elmo and friends.
Kids and family viewing made up 15% of Netflix viewing in the first half of 2026. That figure frames the expansion. Heather Tilert, vice president of kids and preschool animation series at Netflix, laid out the slate.
Netflix began streaming Sesame Street in 2025. Volume 4 of Season 57 starts streaming on Nov. 23, with Volumes 5 and 6 to follow in 2027. The spinoff, meaning a new show built from an existing one, Mecha Builders lands on Netflix on Oct. 26 after its first release in 2022.
Gabby's Dollhouse is growing too. Doozie's Doghouse, which follows Gabby's sister, premieres on Nov. 9 as a mixed-media companion series built around imaginative animal-themed play. The unscripted spinoff Gabby's Dollhouse: Makers and Bakers debuts on Dec. 9 with four holiday-themed episodes, with additional episodes in 2027.
Preschool series Puppy Pirates has been greenlit, meaning approved for production, from creator Matthew Fernandez. Bad Dinosaurs, from creators Joel Veitch, Alex Mallinson and David Shute, has been renewed, meaning ordered for more seasons, for seasons 2 and 3.
Games sit alongside the programmes. Netflix Playground will release KPop Demon Hunters: Ready, Set Shine on Sept. 29. Counting game Numberblocks: Hide and Seek arrives the same day. A Trash Truck game follows on Oct. 27.
The Playground hub is designed around favourite characters for young players. Netflix said it features faces from Dr. Seuss, Peppa Pig, Bad Dinosaurs and Sesame Street, according to Tudum. The company first detailed the Playground app for games as part of its wider kids lineup in April, according to Netflix.
For parents keeping track, this means several arrival dates in quick succession. Two games land on Sept. 29. Mecha Builders follows in October. Then Sesame Street, Doozie's Doghouse and holiday baking close out the year.
