Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Gets a Netflix Date: January 19, 2027

Netflix has set January 19, 2027, as the premiere date for Season 2 of Blue Eye Samurai, its animated period drama. Variety reported the date on November 3, 2026. The season arrives about eleven weeks from now, and it will not be the last. The show has also been renewed for a third season, which will be its final one, and that season is slated to debut in 2028.
The series follows Mizu, a samurai voiced by Maya Erskine, who is chasing revenge across a bloody path. Netflix says the new season takes her quest to London. Brenda Song voices Akemi, Darren Barnet voices Taigen and Masi Oka voices Ringo. The Season 2 cast also includes Jonathan Pryce, Joel Kim Booster and Sherry Cola.
Michael Green and Amber Noizumi created the show and write it, and they also serve as executive producers. Erwin Stoff is another executive producer. Jane Wu is supervising director and producer. The animation is handled by the studio Blue Spirit.
The first season aired in November 2023. Netflix had renewed the show for a second season that December, a few weeks after its debut. Season 1 went on to win four Creative Arts Emmy Awards in 2024, including Outstanding Animated Program. Those awards go to the technical and craft teams behind a show, not only its actors and writers, and they are the most visible record of that work so far.
For viewers, the news gives a fixed month for the return and a clear end point. A final season in 2028 means the story has a planned finish, something many animated series do not get. Anyone who wants to catch up will find the first season already on the service.
The announcement is the start of a long run-up. Animated shows are built over many months by large teams of artists, writers and animators before a premiere date is set, and this one is no different.
