Artists have taken over a Manhattan newsroom.

The 2026 SPRING/BREAK Art Show in New York is showing on the ninth floor of the former CBS News office building. The fair lists its new location as 555 West 57th Street in New York City SPRING/BREAK.

That ninth-floor setting was reported by The Art Newspaper, while ARTnews identified the venue as the former CBS News Building. For readers new to it, SPRING/BREAK is an art fair, a short and crowded exhibition where many artists show work at once and visitors can also buy.

The fair held its Collectors Preview and Press Preview, early viewings reserved for buyers and journalists ahead of the public opening, on 23 September 2026 from 12pm to 5pm, according to its published listing. Previews are standard practice at fairs. They let collectors walk the floor first, and let press photograph and report before the crowds arrive.

Separate background material points to Slow Factory, which describes itself as an award-winning movement organisation and knowledge lab Slow Factory. On its website, the group says it builds infrastructure for cultural freedoms for Indigenous- and Global South-led communities. That phrase means practical support for who gets to make and share culture, and on what terms. It also says it produces public tools, open-source education, curricula and campaigns aimed at helping communities recognise propaganda and challenge dominant narratives.

What makes this stand out is the swap. Newsrooms are built for deadlines. Art fairs invite wandering. Putting one inside the other turns corridors, desks and studios into places to look slowly.

The address matters for visitors. Midtown Manhattan is busy and easy to reach, but a single-floor fair in an office tower works differently from a museum. Expect lifts, timed slots and queues at peak hours. Check the fair's listing for public hours and entry rules before travelling.
