Oasis images take top prizes at Abbey Road Photography Awards

Oasis fans in Buenos Aires have taken centre stage at the 2026 Abbey Road Music Photography Awards. Joshua Halling won Music Moment of the Year for his photograph of Oasis fans taken at the band's 2025 show in the Argentine capital. The winners were announced in London at the fifth edition of the awards, which have been running since 2022, as reported by Rolling Stone.
Oasis won twice. Angus Jenner claimed the Judges' Choice prize for his image of the band taken on the opening night of their reunion tour. The two winning photographs put the band and their audience side by side.
The competition keeps growing. This year's edition drew more than 24,500 submissions from 40 countries, which is 25 percent more than last year. Broadcaster Lauren Laverne hosted the London ceremony, which featured performances by Kuleeangee and Tom A. Smith.
The evening also honoured two long careers behind the camera. Japanese photographer Masayoshi Sukita received the Lifetime Achievement Award. He took the cover photograph for David Bowie's 1977 Heroes album. Musician Nile Rodgers accepted the award on Sukita's behalf.
American photographer Roberta Bayley, a New York City resident, received the ICON award. Photographer Platon accepted the award on her behalf at the ceremony. Both presentations recognised photographers whose portraits and live work have shaped how audiences see popular music.
In the new talent section, Dara Petrova was named Emerging Photographer of the Year. Her winning photograph captured Laboratorium, a techno rave in Ukraine. The prize puts a current underground dance scene alongside tour and festival work.
Other category winners covered clubs, stages and studios. Gabrielle Ravet won Behind the Scenes, Tom Pallant won Live Music and Frances Carter won Portrait. AF Cortés won Underground Scenes and Giulia Spadafora won Festivals.
Wayne Large won the 50 Years of Punk category for a photograph taken in 1979. The image shows members of various punk bands gathered in Castle Gardens Park in Leicester.
What makes this stand out is the range. A reunion tour, a rave, a festival field and a park portrait from 47 years ago all appeared on the same winners list.
