G Flip will perform in the pre-game entertainment at the AFL Grand Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday, Sept. 26. The booking lands while the singer, songwriter and drummer's single "Bed On Fire" holds No. 1 on Australia's national airplay chart.

The 2026 decider brings together the Brisbane Lions and the Fremantle Dockers. The pre-game line-up is headlined by Kylie Minogue, with G Flip joined by Michael Paynter and Mike Brady.

"Bed On Fire" has spent three weeks at No. 1 on the AirPlay Chart powered by RCS Media Monitors, which tracks radio plays across the country, according to Billboard. It is G Flip's first No. 1 on that chart and the first No. 1 for the label AWAL. It is the third homegrown song to top the airplay ranking this year.

The reach has been broad. The track has been played on more than 138 radio stations, making it G Flip's most widely played radio single to date. The previous highest airplay peak was "Disco Cowgirl," which reached No. 23.

The radio run followed a lift from screen. After appearing in Amazon's series Off Campus in May, "Bed On Fire" entered the top 40 of the ARIA Singles Chart, Australia's official singles ranking. In the United States, it peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Alternative Digital Song Sales chart and No. 46 on Billboard's Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.

The single is certified gold in Australia, the award for reaching the sales threshold set by the local industry body. It has passed 67 million total streams, with a peak day of 982,000 plays.

"Bed On Fire" appears on G Flip's third studio album, Dream Ride, released via AWAL Recordings. The album peaked at No. 4 on the ARIA Albums Chart in September 2025. The previous album, 2023's DRUMMER, reached No. 1 on the same chart.

G Flip also placed seven songs in triple j's Hottest 100 countdown in early 2024, the Australian broadcaster's annual listener vote, including "The Worst Person Alive" at No. 2. In March this year, G Flip performed at the Closing Ceremony of the AFC Women's Asian Cup at Stadium Australia in Sydney.

What makes this stand out is the timing. A stadium slot puts a radio chart-topper in front of a national television audience and a packed ground, days after three weeks of heavy rotation. For fans at the MCG, it means the pre-game set will include a song many will already have heard on the drive in.
