Music Venue Trust and Drowned in Sound have launched Shownotes, a free print magazine about live music in the United Kingdom, with distribution to start in November.

The first issue will run to 64 pages. A total of 50,000 copies will be available at more than 500 live music venues across the UK, where the magazine will be stocked nationwide in grassroots and independent rooms, according to Billboard.

Grassroots venues are the small, independent spaces where new artists typically play their first shows. The plan is to put the magazine directly into those rooms, free for gig-goers to pick up.

Hannah Ewens will edit Shownotes. She previously held positions at Rolling Stone U.K. and Vice. She will work with an all-female editorial team that includes Arusa Qureshi and Kate Jeffrie.

Raissa Pardini will lead the magazine's visual look and feel. Sean Adams, the publisher of Drowned in Sound, is publisher of the new title.

The launch was made possible by a grant from Music Venue Trust. The trust is a beneficiary of the LIVE Trust, which distributes funds raised from ticket donations to initiatives across the live sector.

Music Venue Trust is a UK registered charity that works to protect, secure and improve grassroots music venues for venues, communities and upcoming artists, according to Music Venue Trust. It was created in January 2014.

For fans, this means a simple thing. Go to a show in November. You may come home with a magazine as well as a ticket stub.
