Sarah Ferguson is not writing a tell-all memoir, her spokesperson said, rejecting reports of a multimillion-dollar publishing deal.

“There have been no discussions, and she is not writing a personal memoir; it’s not what she’s going to do,” the spokesperson told The Independent in a statement reported by Town and Country.

The denial answered a report in The Sun that Ferguson, the former Duchess of York, was “days away” from a deal after a secret bidding war. The Sun reported that publishers had made seven-figure offers and that the proposed book would cover her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, her relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, and her views on King Charles, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to that same account.

Ferguson is 66. She had kept out of public view for more than 200 days when she was photographed in April at a luxury ski resort in the Austrian Alps. Her last official public appearance before that sighting was the funeral of the Duchess of Kent in September 2025.

Interest in Ferguson rose after U.S. Department of Justice files related to Epstein released earlier this year included emails in which she called Epstein “the brother I have always wished for” and asked him for £20,000 ($26,505) for rent.

The fallout was swift. King Charles stripped Ferguson and Andrew of their titles in October. The former couple were also evicted from Royal Lodge, the Windsor estate where they had lived since the 2000s. A number of charities dropped Ferguson as a patron, including the Teenage Cancer Trust, one of seven groups to cut ties last September.

Andrew remains the subject of a police investigation into misconduct in public office related to his ties to Epstein.

In August, the London Evening Standard reported that Ferguson may be returning to Britain and looking to rent in the Home Counties, the counties that ring London. Her spokesperson has not confirmed those plans.

What makes this stand out is that Ferguson is already a published author. She previously wrote a memoir and a series of children’s books, along with other commercial work including a period as a spokesperson for Weight Watchers. Her representative said a personal memoir is not next.
