Tom Cruise called William, Prince of Wales and Catherine, Princess of Wales “amazing” and “very charismatic” after reuniting with them at the London premiere of Digger.

Cruise talked about the night on The Graham Norton Show, the long-running British celebrity talk show. He said he “had such a good time” with the couple at the premiere.

The world premiere took place at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London Town & Country. William and Catherine walked the red carpet with Cruise. Photos of the three together later appeared in PEOPLE’s Star Tracks celebrity-photos roundup for Wednesday, September 23, 2026 PEOPLE.

“I just love them. They are lovely people and I have great respect for them,” Cruise said, in remarks reported ahead of the talk-show appearance HELLO!.

He used similar language in describing the reunion to PEOPLE. The outlet was cited as obtaining his comment that the couple were “amazing — very charismatic” WION.

It was not their first movie night together. William and Catherine joined Cruise for the United Kingdom premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in May 2022.

That night became one of the most widely shared royal outings of that year. The prince and princess rarely attend Hollywood premieres. Their appearance with Cruise on the Leicester Square carpet drew coverage on both sides of the Atlantic.

For American readers, the context is simple. William is the heir to the British throne, the elder son of King Charles III. Catherine is his wife. The couple lead most public royal appearances by the next generation.

They do not often mix with film publicity. When they do, it is usually for a British premiere with a charity tie or a national moment attached.

What makes this stand out is the ease Cruise described. He did not talk about protocol. He talked about enjoying the conversation. That is unusual for a Hollywood star asked about royalty, and it explains why the clip traveled quickly.
