Shudder acquires Rebekah McKendry's horror film Sundown

Shudder has acquired the rights to Sundown, a supernatural horror feature from director Rebekah McKendry, as reported by Variety on 25 September.
The deal gives the horror streaming service — a subscription platform built around horror, thrillers and the supernatural — a tight revenge story centred on one family. The clock is in the title.
The film follows three generations of women who reunite in a remote cabin to avenge a loved one's death. They are holding a captive. He is not who he seems, and his own family is closing in as they wait for sundown.
Olwen Fouéré, Camille Sullivan and Summer H. Howell lead the cast, alongside Daniel Bernhardt and David Alpay, according to Variety. The supporting cast includes Kyle Mac, Elisa Paszt, David Ian McKendry, Junko Bailey and Megan Best.
The screenplay comes from Joshua Hull and David Ian McKendry. The pair previously collaborated with McKendry on her 2022 feature Glorious. Guitarist Slash is an executive producer, a senior backing role, under his BeserkerGang label.
Pasha Patriki of Hangar 18 Media produces alongside Michael Paszt, Andrew Thomas Hunt and James Fler of Raven Banner. The deal was negotiated by Mark Ward of IFC Entertainment Group on behalf of Shudder with Paszt of Raven Banner on behalf of the film-makers, the trade report said.
Festival organisers list Sundown as a 2026 film from the USA with a running time of 79 minutes, programmed as an East Coast Premiere at the 2026 Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, according to Variety. Production had wrapped by March, when ScreenAnarchy reported the shoot had finished. First-look stills were released in July, when earlier genre coverage described it as vampire horror and a brutal family revenge tale.
What makes this stand out on paper is the structure. Three generations on one side. Another family on the other. One cabin, one prisoner, and daylight running out.
