John Legend and Pharrell Williams release Fireflies ahead of Muse album

John Legend has released “Fireflies” with Pharrell Williams as the second single from his upcoming album Muse.
The song arrived on Sept. 25. Muse will follow on Oct. 23 via Republic Records, and Williams produced the entirety of the album, Billboard reported.
Muse is Legend’s 12th studio album, a detail he discussed in an exclusive interview with CBS Mornings’ Nate Burleson. The record runs to 16 tracks and includes an appearance from Clipse. “Daylight” was the lead single, the first track released to introduce the project, with “Fireflies” now following it.
Williams is not only behind the production. He is also credited as a guest artist on “Fireflies,” which is listed as track 14 on the album with a runtime of 3:02, according to John Legend’s official site. The video, titled “John Legend, Pharrell Williams - Fireflies,” was scheduled to premiere on the johnlegendVEVO YouTube channel at 7:00 AM on Sept. 25.
The clip keeps the focus tight. Legend performs on Yamaha piano alongside the Hollywood Cinematic Orchestra against a seamless white backdrop. The set-up recalls the video for “Ordinary People,” his piano-led single from the 2004 album Get Lifted.
That earlier song remains a reference point in his catalogue. “Ordinary People” peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100, the US singles chart, and won the Grammy for best male R&B vocal performance, Billboard reported.
For fans watching closely, the visual link is easy to spot. Two decades on, the white room is back. The personnel around the piano are new.
Physical copies are already in motion. The Republic Records Official Store lists a MUSE CD by John Legend priced at $13.99.
