Tom Morello released the single "Date Night" on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, and announced that his first-ever solo rock full-length album, Everyone Gets Everything They Want, will arrive on September 25, 2026. (Billboard)

"Date Night" is the second single from the album, following several previously released tracks that will also appear on the record: "Adjourn It," "Everything Burns" (featuring Beartooth), "Pretend You Remember Me," and "Soldier in the Army of Love." (Billboard; Metal Injection)

The new single carries a pointed historical premise. It is written from the perspectives of sisters Truus and Freddie Oversteegen and their friend Hannie Schaft — three Dutch women who seduced and assassinated Nazi officers during the Second World War. Morello framed the broader project in similarly direct terms: "I make anti-racist songs for anti-racists. I make anti-fascist songs for anti-fascists. And I make anti-Nazi songs for anti-Nazis." The album also features family collaboration. "Date Night" includes guitar from Morello's teenage son, Roman Morello, who is credited as a co-writer on five tracks across the record. Guest appearances from Serj Tankian and the Irish hip-hop group Kneecap are also confirmed. (Billboard)

For decades, Morello's guitar work has been tethered to bands — Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Prophets of Rage — rather than released under his own name as a solo rock artist. Everyone Gets Everything They Want changes that, and the guest list alone signals the scope: a System of a Down frontman, an Irish rap trio whose own political provocations have drawn scrutiny, and a teenager co-writing nearly half the album's tracks.
