Mike Tindall has appeared in public for the first time since announcing the death of his father, Phil Tindall, at the age of 80.

The 47-year-old former England rugby captain attended the Laver Cup on Friday, 25 September, with his wife Zara Tindall. The couple sat together in the stands for the evening session.

He announced his father's death on the 23 September episode of his rugby podcast, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby Hello! Magazine. Phillip Tindall, known as Phil, was 80. The Telegraph reported that he died following a battle with Parkinson's disease The Telegraph.

Tindall captained England during his playing career and was part of the Rugby Union World Cup-winning side BBC. His wife Zara Tindall is the daughter of Princess Anne. The couple married in 2011.

At the Laver Cup, an annual men's team tennis event that pits Europe against the rest of the world, the pair were photographed talking with Roger Federer in the stands. They were also pictured alongside players Learner Tien, Francisco Cerundolo and Casper Ruud.

Otley Rugby Club, where Phil Tindall was club captain in 1972 and 1973, held a minute's silence in his memory. The club tribute was reported alongside details of the family's loss.

For those following Tindall's rugby work, the podcast announcement was the first public word of his father's death. The Friday outing was his first photographed appearance since.
