Federer Welcomes Zara and Mike Tindall to Laver Cup in London

Roger Federer welcomed Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall to the Laver Cup in London on Friday night.
The meeting took place Sept. 25, 2026, at the O2 Arena during the three-day men's team tennis event, according to Reuters Connect. Federer, who co-founded the tournament, greeted the couple courtside and posed for photos.
Zara Tindall is the daughter of Princess Anne. Her husband Mike joined her for the evening in London. For American readers unfamiliar with the family tree, Anne is the late Queen Elizabeth II's daughter, which makes Zara the late queen's granddaughter. She does not hold a princess title.
The outing was the couple's first public appearance since Mike announced his father's death, according to Express. His father, Phil, lived with Parkinson's disease for 23 years before he died. Mike had shared the news only days earlier.
The Laver Cup pits six players from Europe against six from the rest of the world. Federer started the event to honor Rod Laver, the Australian great, and it rotates cities each year.
Team Europe won the 2026 trophy. World No. 2 Alexander Zverev closed it out with a 7-6 (3), 6-3 win over Learner Tien, according to Agence France-Presse. That result gave Europe the points it needed to take back the Cup.
Backstage at the O2, Zara and Mike spent time with players from both squads, including Tien, Francisco Cerundolo and Casper Ruud, according to Town & Country. Photos showed relaxed conversation away from the court.
What makes this stand out is the history. The Tindalls attended the 2024 premiere of Federer: Twelve Final Days, the film about Federer's retirement from professional tennis. Friday was a reunion of sorts.
The tournament now heads west. The 10th edition is set for Sept. 24-26, 2027, at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, outside Los Angeles, according to Laver Cup.
