Glasgow Warriors fought back from 10 points down at half-time to beat Munster 26-20 at Thomond Park on 26 September.

The bonus-point win — an extra table point earned for scoring four tries or more — gave Glasgow the perfect start to Round 1 of the 2026-27 BKT United Rugby Championship, according to the BBC. The match was played in Limerick, with Munster listing a 17:30 kick-off for the Thomond Park fixture, per Munster Rugby.

Munster led 17-7 at the break. They struck through tries from Ben O'Connor and Michael Milne, with JJ Hanrahan adding two conversions and two penalties. Glasgow had only one first-half score to show for their efforts.

That is some way to open a season. Glasgow topped the URC table last season before losing their home semi-final to the Bulls at Murrayfield. This was a test of nerve as much as skill.

Jamie Dobie delivered on a landmark day. The scrum-half marked his 100th appearance for the club with two tries. Prop Nathan McBeth and scrum-half George Horne scored the others. Horne also kicked three conversions, the kicks at goal taken after a try.

Munster kept pushing. Hanrahan kept the scoreboard ticking with his boot. But Glasgow found momentum after the restart and refused to let it go.

There was a wobble. Glasgow centre Ollie Smith was shown a yellow card for a deliberate knock-on, which means 10 minutes off the field and leaves a team a player short. Glasgow held firm with 14 men.

What makes this stand out is the venue. Thomond Park has a reputation as one of the hardest places to win in rugby. To trail there, then score three second-half tries without reply in open play, takes composure.

For fans, this means early momentum. Five points away from home banks belief for the long season ahead. Munster take two losing bonus points at most — in fact, they finished within seven points — but will rue letting a half-time lead slip.
