Kieran Culkin voices the Devil in Family Guy: Happy Hell-o-ween, a Halloween special premiering October 5 on Hulu.

A trailer for the special has been released, confirming Culkin's casting, according to Deadline. The outing is made as a streaming special, meaning it debuts on Hulu rather than in the show's regular weekly broadcast slot. Viewers can watch it on demand from the premiere date.

The story centres on Brian and Stewie. The two characters find themselves in Hell, paying for 24 seasons' worth of bad behaviour. Twenty-four seasons is a long history for any show to carry into one story. The special uses that backlog as the engine for the plot.

The punishment does not stop there. After annoying the Devil, Brian and Stewie end up in charge of Hell. That switch is the central comic turn. Two visitors who should be serving time are suddenly running the place.

It follows a familiar seasonal pattern for the series. Family Guy has celebrated Halloween with special episodes since 2006. That run stretches back almost twenty years. The Halloween shows sit alongside the regular season as standalone treats for the holiday.

The programme itself is a 20th Television Animation production. Its starring voice line-up includes Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis, Mike Henry, Patrick Warburton and Arif Zahir. A guest role, meaning a part recorded by an actor brought in for one story, sits on top of that regular cast. Culkin fills that guest slot as the Devil.

What makes this stand out is the pairing of scale and timing. A 24-season bill coming due is a big premise for a single special. Putting Culkin, a high-profile guest voice, at the centre of it gives the holiday episode a clear hook.

For fans, this means a short wait and a simple plan. The trailer is out now and offers the first look at the Hell-set story. The full special streams on Hulu from October 5, just in time for the run-up to Halloween.
