SNL UK Weekend Update takes aim at Trump, Weinstein and Altman

Saturday Night Live UK turned its latest Weekend Update on U.S. President Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein and Sam Altman in the live show covered on 26 September 2026.
The slot is the UK take on SNL's long-running news satire segment, a desk-based parody of the week's headlines. It is co-anchored by Ania Magliano and Paddy Young, with Magliano opening the Trump material with the line: "This week, President Trump welcomed President Xi to the White House," as reported by Variety.
Magliano joked that Trump wore a bright red tie as a mark of Communist China, while Xi wore a mottled purple tie she likened to the colour of Trump's prostate. She stayed with the White House visit for the next gag. "Trump ordered a 20, an 18 and a 21. And afterwards sat down for a Chinese-inspired banquet."
Young then took the political thread to Britain. Variety transcribed his line as: "From Beijing to beige man, Trump met [U.K. Prime Minister] Andy Burnham." He followed it immediately with another joke at Trump's expense: "It wasn't a memorable event for Trump, as he's got dementia." Both lines were delivered as jokes in the segment.
The pair also turned to the tech world. Magliano joked that Altman had warned his own creation could destroy humanity, then slapped his own wrists and ran from the room shouting: "Someone stop me!"
Weinstein drew some of the sharpest material. Variety noted that Weinstein had been sentenced to 15 years in prison in New York earlier that week. Magliano joked: "Me Too is now what the inmates say in the queue for Weinstein's arsehole." Young added: "Back in 2016, Weinstein hired a private intelligence firm to dig up dirt on his victims." The segment also mentioned Benjamin Netanyahu's recent speech at the UN, during which representatives of other nations walked out.
Magliano is one of the 11 members of the inaugural Saturday Night Live UK cast who all returned for the new series, according to Sky. The programme is broadcast live from London and airs Saturdays at 10pm on Sky One and streaming service NOW, after Sky extended the run to eight shows.
The series is Sky's local version of the American format, with guest hosts fronting each live episode. Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan and Riz Ahmed were confirmed as the first three hosts, and Jack Whitehall was later announced as a host.
