South Africa put a series lead on the line in pink at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on 27 September 2026.

The second men's one-day international against Australia, a 50-overs-a-side game, was also the annual Pink Day fixture The Guardian. It is the second game in a three-match series and was played at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

South Africa wore pink kits instead of their usual green to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer detection and treatment. Players swapped their own names for the names of survivors on the backs of their shirts. David Miller wore his mom's name.

Australia arrived needing a win to stay alive. They lost the first ODI in Durban by 67 runs while chasing 298. Chasing means batting second to pass the total set by the other team.

Matthew Breetzke made 112 for South Africa in that Durban game. Australia slipped to 215-7 in reply during that chase The Guardian. One sharp moment settled it, when Marco Jansen caught Matt Renshaw on the boundary to close out the contest.

Play in Johannesburg was scheduled to start at 10am local time, 9am BST and 6pm AEST. The venue is listed by Cricket South Africa as DP World Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.

Team news added another thread. Mitch Marsh stayed on as Australia captain for the opening ODI of the tour Reuters. Ahead of the second match, Cricket Australia reported that Pat Cummins was edging towards an ODI comeback Cricket Australia.

Form pointed to two names. Breetzke had scores of 57, 88 and 112 across his three ODI innings before this game ESPNcricinfo. Australia's Cameron Green averaged 46.27 from 14 innings in the format at the same stage.

For fans, this means a short, sharp series with no spare room. The contest moves quickly to the third and final ODI, scheduled for Wednesday, 30 September. Australia must win in Johannesburg to take the series to a decider.
