Denmark beat Wales 2-0 to leave Bellamy's side bottom of Nations League group

Denmark beat Wales 2-0 in Copenhagen on 27 September to leave Wales bottom of Nations League Group A4 with no points and no goals from two games. The Guardian
It is UEFA's Nations League, the biennial tournament that groups national sides by level, now in its 2026-27 league phase branded as Nations League 2027. UEFA Both teams arrived at Parken Stadium needing their first points of the campaign.
Denmark broke through in the 53rd minute. Mikkel Damsgaard curled in a free-kick and Wales defender Ben Davies could only help it on into his own net for an own goal. Thirteen minutes later Gustav Isaksen made it 2-0, his shot clipping a defender and dropping in off the underside of the bar.
Denmark thought they had scored earlier. In the 24th minute Isaksen met Rasmus Hojlund's cross and finished, only for VAR, the video officials who check key decisions on replay, to rule it out for offside. The hosts kept pushing after the break and the two second-half goals settled it.
The result followed a difficult Thursday for both sides. Denmark had lost 3-2 to Norway in Oslo, with Erling Haaland's 74th-minute strike proving decisive in a five-goal thriller. Wales had lost 1-0 away to Portugal in Lisbon on 24 September to open their campaign.
Wales manager Craig Bellamy made six changes for Copenhagen. The surprise was a start for Charlie Savage, promoted into the side as Bellamy shuffled his pack. Denmark kept more of their shape and their pressure told.
Wales now face a sharp test at home. They host Haaland's Norway next, before a return game against Denmark in Cardiff. Denmark, beaten by Norway before this win, have three points from two and room to build.
For fans, this means a familiar Nations League lesson. Wales won promotion back to League A after topping League B, and the step up is unforgiving. Two games, no goals, and the top sides are already pulling away.
