Shaboozey brings out Gunna for debut 'High Noon' at 2026 VMAs

Shaboozey brought out Gunna for the first live performance of 'High Noon' at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.
He started the set alone with 'Cowgirl'. Gunna then joined him for the duet. The show was scheduled for Sunday, 27 September 2026, with the performance confirmed in reporting on 28 September, the day after the broadcast was due to air Rolling Stone.
Paramount, which organises the awards through MTV, had set out the running order in advance. It said Shaboozey would perform 'Cowgirl' before Gunna joined him for 'High Noon' Paramount. That is how it played out on the night.
The set was introduced by Ciara Miller. Miller stars in the 'Cowgirl' music video. The video was co-directed by Shaboozey and Logan Meis.
'Cowgirl' is the second single from Shaboozey's fourth studio album, 'The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales'. A single is a track released separately to push an album. A fourth studio album means the fourth full-length collection of new recordings in an artist's catalogue. The track was produced by Sean Cook and Nevin Sastry, the producers credited with shaping the recording in the studio.
It peaked at Number 11 on Billboard's U.S. Hot Country Songs chart. That chart is the weekly ranking of country tracks in America, counted from sales, streams and radio play. Chart positions of this kind are read across the industry as a sales measure. They feed into touring, set lists and release plans.
The song arrived at the VMAs with two nominations. It was shortlisted for Best Country and Best Cinematography. The first recognises the video in its genre category. The second recognises camera work and visual craft. Nominations are decided before the night. Performances are booked separately.
Shaboozey is in the middle of a busy live run. His headlining Outlaws Never Die Tour, with Shaboozey as the main act, runs through 27 October. A headlining tour carries its own crew, freight and venue costs. A first-week total pays rent. A scrapped date leaves a crew out of work.
Lisa was also named to the 2026 performers line-up alongside Shaboozey and Gunna. The line-up was announced in stages during September. For fans, this means the awards set sits inside a longer stretch of releases and live dates, not apart from it.
