Off Campus Leads Step Out at the VMAs After Breakout Debut
Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli took their screen romance to the awards stage on Sunday, presenting at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards to announce Sienna Spiro's performance. The spot put two fast-rising streaming leads in front of a live music crowd. The ceremony aired Sunday, Sept. 27 on CBS.
Bright plays Hannah Wells and Cameli plays Garrett Graham in Off Campus, Prime Video's screen version of Elle Kennedy's campus romance novels. An adaptation, in plain terms, means the books supply the characters and stories for television. Their joint VMAs appearance reunited the show's central couple months after the series premiered in May.
The show arrived with numbers. Off Campus reached 36 million viewers worldwide over its first 12 days of release, according to figures from Prime Video reported by The Hollywood Reporter. That 12-day window, meaning the first 12 days the show was available to watch, makes it Prime Video's third-largest series debut on that measure. Only The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Fallout sit above it.
The timing matters. A debut counts first impressions. It counts how many viewers sampled the show quickly, not how long they stayed.
Work on the follow-up is well under way. Bright and Cameli spent summer 2026 filming season two of Off Campus. The new run will adapt The Score, Kennedy's third Off Campus novel, centred on Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes. The story moves the central romance on from Hannah and Garrett while keeping the same university world around them. Bright and Cameli's presence on the shoot confirms they stay part of that world as the focus shifts.
They were part of a long presenter list. Those announced ahead of the broadcast included Alex Warren, Brandon Sklenar, singer Charli xcx, Ciara Miller, David Corenswet and Isabel May, according to Paramount Press Express. Oscar-nominated actress Teyana Taylor joined the line-up. The official tip sheet for the night from the organisers also listed Chuck D as a presenter.
What makes this stand out is simple. Fans saw Hannah and Garrett together again before Dean and Allie's story takes over on screen. The cast stays visible while the next season is still being finished. For a new series trying to hold its audience, that in-between time counts.
