Sienna Spiro wins Best New Artist at 2026 VMAs

Sienna Spiro won Best New Artist at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on 27 September.
The ceremony took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. It was hosted by Snoop Dogg. It aired live on CBS and MTV and streamed on Paramount+ Premium, Rolling Stone.
Alex Warren presented the prize. He was last year's winner in the same category. His appearance kept up the VMAs habit of asking a recent winner to welcome the next one. Spiro stepped up as a first-time nominee at the awards, which recognise music videos and live performances across the year.
"I didn't think this would happen, so I just have to say thank you so much," she said. She thanked fans and everyone who voted for her. The category is decided with fan voting, so that support counted directly toward the result.
She then thanked her team at Capitol Records, the record company that releases her music. A label team typically covers recording, release planning and promotion. She also thanked the women in her crew, the backstage and touring staff who carry a live show. She closed by thanking her mother and her sister.
The award capped a busy night for the singer. Earlier in the evening she performed "Great Expectation" on the VMAs stage for the first time. The performance came only hours before her win. She had been named as an additional performer alongside LISA and RAYE in the run-up to the show, Billboard.
That announcement also pointed listeners to her single "Die on This Hill", a standalone song release issued apart from an album. The performance slot put her in front of a wide television and streaming audience. For a first-time nominee, that kind of appearance is valuable exposure before votes are counted.
Spiro beat six other acts to take Best New Artist. They were Bella Kay, Cortis, Magnus Ferrell, Malcolm Todd, Myles Smith and Stella Lefty. MTV had published the complete list of nominees on its official voting pages, where fans could back their choices. MTV organised fan voting through those pages. The winners were scheduled to be revealed on Sunday, 27 September at 7:30 ET, MTV.
What makes this stand out is the double duty. Spiro did not only collect a fan-voted prize. She also used her first VMAs performance to introduce her music live on the same night. For new viewers, that pairing gives a clear starting point. They saw the song, then they saw the win, and they can follow what she releases next.
