Chanel, the French fashion house, will present its Cruise 2027 collection in Deauville on April 27. Designer Matthieu Blazy will lead the show, his second cruise collection for the house, according to the trade press announcement. WWD

A cruise collection is the between-seasons range shown ahead of the main calendar. It is built for travel and warm weather. Houses often take it on the road.

The setting is no accident. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel opened her first ready-to-wear store in Deauville in 1912. The Normandy seaside town later became a favourite location for the house.

Chanel has been a partner of the Deauville American Film Festival since 2019. It also turned its autumn 2024 runway in Paris into a replica of the town’s boardwalk. That show was designed by Virginie Viard, Blazy’s predecessor, according to contemporaneous reporting. Reuters

Blazy was named creative director of Chanel in 2024. He chose Biarritz, the French surfing town, for his first resort show as creative director. Chanel presented that 2026–27 cruise collection there on April 28, 2026.

Deauville continues that coastal run. Biarritz faces the Atlantic in the south-west. Deauville faces the Channel in the north. Both towns mix beaches, hotels and film crowds.

The wider cruise calendar is taking shape. Dior, the French fashion house, will present its resort collection in Shanghai on May 14 under designer Jonathan Anderson. Chanel will go first, with its late-April date in France.

What makes this stand out is the return. Deauville is where Chanel started selling simple jersey clothes more than a century ago. Next April, the house brings a full collection back to the same town.
