Warzone players will soon be able to switch off crossover soldier outfits and see only Modern Warfare 4 designs on their own screens.

Call of Duty set out the plan in a blog post published on 24 September 2026, titled 'Warzone Season 1 Adds a New Operator Skin Toggle'. Call of Duty The option will arrive with Season 1, the first major update season after launch, later this year, as detailed in later reporting on 28 September 2026. Eurogamer Season 1 launches later this year after the October release.

Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled for release on 23 October 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2. Warzone is the free-to-play battle royale offshoot of the series, played online in large lobbies that lead into last-player-standing matches. Operator skins, the outfits worn by its playable soldiers, are the focus of the new setting.

With the filter turned on, a player will see only Modern Warfare 4 character skins in lobbies and matches. Turn it off and the wider mix returns. The choice is personal. It affects only the screen of the person who enables it.

That detail is central. The filter does not delete other games' skins. It does not hide them for everyone in a lobby. It does not change what the owner of a skin sees on their own character. Other players will still see their own selections as normal. The setting does not extend to other modes.

The tool was built specifically for the Modern Warfare 4 chapter and controls operator skins seen in Warzone only. The official notice sits under a September 2026 address for Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone Season 1. Skins earned or bought in other Call of Duty entries remain available under Carry Forward, the system that lets players keep previously earned and purchased content across titles.

Carry Forward will continue alongside the toggle. Nothing is taken away. The collection stays in place, while the display can be personalised to a single era. In practice, an outfit unlocked in an earlier entry does not disappear when the new chapter begins. Players who bought or earned those designs can still equip them. The toggle only changes how they appear to someone else using the filter.

For players, this means control without loss. Those who prefer a grounded, military look can keep it. Those who like the full crossover wardrobe can keep that too. One lobby, two views, no argument over outfits.
