Michael Che will debut his third Netflix stand-up special, “Shot in Minnesota,” on Oct. 13.

The date and title were reported by Variety on Sept. 28. The launch comes five years after his last Netflix hour. It puts him back in the streamer’s comedy line-up this autumn.

Che directed the special himself. It was taped at First Avenue in Minneapolis, the Minnesota venue that gives the show its name. He executive produces, meaning he oversees the production creatively and financially, with Matthew Vaughan for Rotten Science.

The new hour is Che’s third for Netflix. His first was 2016’s “Michael Che Matters.” His second was 2021’s “Michael Che: Shame the Devil.” A stand-up special, in this case, is a full-length live set filmed for television and streaming.

Che remains best known to many viewers from “Saturday Night Live.” He co-anchors “Weekend Update,” the programme’s news-parody segment, alongside Colin Jost. The pair returned together for a 13th consecutive year in Season 52.

That long run on live television sits alongside his other writing and performing work. Before joining “Saturday Night Live,” Che was a correspondent on “The Daily Show,” the late-night satire programme. He later created his own sketch comedy series, “That Damn Michael Che,” which aired for two seasons on HBO Max.

For fans, this means a first full hour since 2021. Same voice. New city. New material, taped on the road and finished for streaming.
