Julianne Moore will receive the Icon Award at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, where her new musical comedy The Dead Donkey will play as the Centerpiece selection, according to Variety.

The 29th edition runs Oct. 24-31 in 2026. Individual event tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 2.

The Dead Donkey is a musical comedy from A24 written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg, who also wrote its original songs, according to Variety. It co-stars Paul Giamatti, Halle Bailey and Bernadette Peters alongside Moore. It is a reunion. Moore previously starred in Eisenberg's 2022 directorial debut When You Finish Saving the World.

The film has already started its festival run. It held its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival and then had its Canadian premiere at TIFF, according to Variety. The Centerpiece slot is a prime showcase position in the middle of a festival programme.

Savannah will open with A Talent for Murder from Bleecker Street, directed by Anton Corbijn and starring Helen Mirren. Mirren will also be honoured at the festival, according to Variety. That gives the eight-day event two star-led bookends: an opener tied to Mirren and a mid-festival showcase tied to Moore.

For fans, this means a clear date to plan around. The Moore honour and the Dead Donkey screening sit at the heart of the Oct. 24-31 line-up, with single-event booking opening on Oct. 2.
