Spider-Man: Brand New Day set for rerelease with cut Rosario Dawson scene

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going back to cinemas.
Sony Pictures is working on a theatrical rerelease that would add previously unseen footage, including a scene with Rosario Dawson cut from the version released on 31 July, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
No date has been announced for the potential return. The new version is expected to include other unspecified footage in addition to the Dawson scene.
A rerelease is straightforward. The same film returns to theatres, this time with a little more attached. Studios often use them to extend a strong run and give audiences who missed the first run another reason to buy a ticket.
The film stars Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal. It was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Sony Pictures originally dated the film for 31 July 2026 and still lists it as now playing exclusively in movie theatres.
Dawson filmed a scene as Claire Temple that did not make the final cut. Temple is a nurse who crosses paths with street-level heroes. The extra material refers to her as Night Nurse, according to TheWrap. Dawson previously played Claire Temple on television, on Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.
What makes this stand out is the connection. Dawson's character was built across several Marvel television shows. Restoring her scene would bring that small-screen history into Holland's big-screen Spider-Man story.
The box office explains the encore. As reported on 28 September, the film has earned more than $950 million domestically, the United States and Canada counted together, reported as the highest-grossing domestic release of all time, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It has taken $2.49 billion worldwide, which ranks it at No. 3 on the all-time worldwide chart. It added $4.1 million domestically over the latest weekend.
The timing is linked to what comes next. The planned rerelease is set for ahead of the Doomsday release. The move follows the success of Avengers Endgame: Encore, according to Deadline.
For fans, this means a reason to return. The promise is not a sequel. It is the same adventure with something extra tucked in.
