The Swan: Behind the Mirror lands on Hulu
The Swan: Behind the Mirror arrives on Hulu on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026. The film is a documentary about the 2004 reality series The Swan. It is directed by Erin Lee Carr, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The original series gave everyday women the promise of becoming “Swans” through dramatic cosmetic surgery. That description comes from Hulu. The new film looks back at that format. Variety describes it as a documentary exploring the plastic surgery-heavy reality series.
Hulu lists The Swan: Behind the Mirror among its Originals, meaning titles organised as exclusive to the service. It streams on Hulu. Viewers who use the Disney+ app can also find it through Hulu on Disney+, the Hulu section inside Disney+.
The running time is 1 hour 40 minutes, according to the Disney+ listing. That makes it a single-sitting watch. No episode count applies. It is a feature-length documentary, not a returning series.
Hulu published an official trailer on its YouTube channel on Sept. 22. The trailer is also listed on Hulu’s new and upcoming pages. Ahead of the premiere, Variety published a feature on Sept. 24 in which former contestants and Carr discuss the documentary.
For anyone coming to this fresh, the set-up is simple. A 2004 reality show offered makeovers built around surgery. More than 20 years later, a new documentary asks the participants what that experience involved.
