Death Note: The Musical releases trailer ahead of Barbican return

Death Note: The Musical has released an official trailer ahead of its return to London's Barbican Theatre. The trailer was published on 29 September, shortly after the show's first summer season closed. The musical will play the Barbican again from 23 March to 15 May 2027.
The return dates were reported on 9 September by WhatsOnStage. That announcement landed during the final week of the first Barbican run. The second run keeps the show in the same London house.
That first run was billed as the fully staged UK premiere. It played the Barbican from 30 July to 12 September 2026. Its press night, the invited performance for critics, was held on 11 August, as set out when the London production was announced in February.
Music for the show is by Frank Wildhorn. Lyrics are by Jack Murphy. The book, the dialogue and story structure a musical is built around, is by Ivan Menchell. The credits are listed by the Barbican for the 2027 production.
Fabian Aloise is the choreographer, the person who creates the dance and movement, according to the Barbican. Choreography shapes how a large company moves across a big stage. The Barbican listing confirms Aloise in that role for the return.
The summer production celebrated its official opening night in London. WhatsOnStage published a highlights video around that opening. The video gathered moments from the opening-night celebrations.
The London production featured a revised script. It also featured new songs. Both points were noted in the opening-night coverage of the Barbican staging.
What makes this stand out is the speed of the encore. The first Barbican season closed on 12 September. A second season was already public by 9 September. That left a gap of just over six months before the March return.
For fans, this means a first proper look beyond the auditorium. A trailer, a short edited video released to show staging, costume and sound, travels further than an opening-night clip. It gives anyone who missed the summer a quick way in before spring.
The Barbican's event page confirms the venue and the March to May dates for 2027. The trailer release was reported by WhatsOnStage on 29 September. More production detail is expected closer to the return.
