The world premiere production of the Thelma & Louise stage musical has released its first official trailer.

The news was reported on 30 September, while the show is playing in London. The video is the first official trailer for the production in performance, according to WhatsOnStage.

Amy Lennox and Rachel Tucker star in the titular roles, meaning the two parts that give the show its name. Lennox plays Thelma. Tucker plays Louise. That role split is listed on the theatre's own show page Young Vic.

The London cast also includes Trevor Dion Nicholas as Hal and Jordan Luke Gage as JD. Those two parts complete the central quartet around the road-trip story. All four appear under the Young Vic billing for this world premiere run.

The musical is adapted by Callie Khouri from her Academy Award-winning screenplay. Khouri wrote the script for the original film and has adapted it herself for the stage. It is directed by Trip Cullman, with a score by Neko Case.

The show is an adaptation of the 1991 feature film, as noted in a London Theatre review. The plot begins simply. Louise invites her best friend Thelma for a spontaneous weekend getaway. That invitation sets events in motion.

The staging is a world premiere, meaning this London production is the first full staging of the musical anywhere. The plan to premiere the show at the Young Vic with Lennox and Tucker was first reported in April by Playbill. The September trailer follows that spring casting announcement.

The musical is playing at the Young Vic Theatre in London until 24 October 2026. That closing date leaves just under a month from the trailer release for audiences to book.

The production is co-produced by five partners, meaning they have built the show together. The co-producers are the Young Vic, Sonia Friedman Productions, Blue Spruce Productions, Ley Line Entertainment and Callie Khouri.

For fans, this means a first chance to see how the staging looks and how Case's music sits with Khouri's story. Trailers are short by design. They give phone-scrollers a sense of tone, casting and scale without giving away the plot.
