Netflix Sets October 27 Release for Matthew Perry Documentary

Netflix will release The One About Matthew Perry on 27 October, a three-part documentary series about the late Friends star.
The streamer revealed a trailer on Tuesday ahead of the release, according to Variety. The date lands on the third anniversary of Perry's death.
The series draws on the Perry family's private archive. It uses unreleased photos and videos from that collection to trace his life on and off screen.
His sister, Mia Perry Bowick, gives testimony in the series. Her account sits alongside other family material, giving the story a close, personal source.
The documentary also revisits how Perry won the role of Chandler Bing on Friends. Former NBC president Warren Littlefield and Season 1 writer Jeff Strauss share firsthand accounts of his audition.
That casting history matters. Friends ran for ten seasons on NBC and made Perry known to viewers around the world.
Mary Robertson directs the series. She also serves as executive producer alongside Lisa Kalikow, Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman.
It is produced by Maxine Productions, part of Sony Pictures Television. The company works across documentary and unscripted series, meaning programmes without a script.
Netflix lists the title as releasing in the United States on 27 October 2026 at 12:00 AM PDT, according to Netflix. All three parts arrive under that release plan.
For viewers, this means one complete story in three episodes. The focus stays on Perry's life, his family archive and the audition that shaped his career.
