The One About Matthew Perry, a three-part documentary about the Friends star, was the top English-language TV series on Netflix for the week of 26 October to 1 November, according to Deadline.

The series drew 9.5 million views in its first weekend on the service. Netflix describes it as a look at Perry's Hollywood success, built around interviews with people who knew him best. Those testimonials are a large part of what the series offers viewers.

The overall No. 1 was a different show. Lupin Part 4 collected 10.8 million views and topped every series on Netflix that week. It was also the most-watched non-English TV series. Lupin is a French thriller, and Omar Sy returned as Assane Diop, the gentleman thief at its centre. The new episodes arrived on 23 October, and Variety has described them as the first new instalment of the show since 2023.

Earlier parts of the show kept finding audiences too. Lupin Part 1 was second on the non-English list with 5.2 million views. Part 2 had 3.2 million views and placed sixth, while Part 3 had 3 million and placed eighth.

The English-language TV list had a crowded middle. Nobody Wants This Season 3 came second with 7.2 million views. Below was third with 3.8 million, followed by The Diplomat Season 4 with 2.9 million and Love Is Blind with 2.8 million.

Films showed the same mix of old and new. Animals led the English-language film list with 4.7 million views. On the non-English side, Surviving Hurricane Otis was the most-watched film with 12.4 million views.

A quick word on the numbers. Netflix reports "views" rather than ticket sales or subscriber counts. It works them out by dividing the hours people watched a title by that title's running time. So a show with 9.5 million views is not 9.5 million separate people, but it is a rough guide to how many households chose it.

For a general viewer, the week says something simple about the list. A French heist series, a documentary, a US sitcom spin-off and a romance reality show all reached millions of people in the same seven days. The chart is a mix of what is new and what is familiar, and it changes week to week.

Netflix publishes its top 10 every Tuesday, so the order can shift quickly.
