Netflix's 'Icebreaker' Adds Six to Main Cast

Netflix has added six actors to the main cast of Icebreaker, its adaptation of Hannah Grace's hockey romance novel. Variety reported the castings exclusively on 29 Sept 2026. The move fills out the ensemble around the show's college rink.

Auliʻi Cravalho joins as Lola, Chaneil Kular as JJ and Gabriel Tierney as Aaron. Devin Craig joins as Henry and Aidan Shaw as Russ. Peter Berry rounds out the group as Robbie, in what will be his onscreen debut.

All six are series regulars, meaning they are contracted as main cast across the series. That is a large intake in one go. It gives the show a full team around its central pair.

That central pair is already set. Daisy Jelley leads as figure skater Anastasia Allen, with Connor Simos opposite her as hockey captain Nate Hawkins. Their casting was previously announced.

Behind the camera, Jade Halley Bartlett is the creator of the series. Amanda Lasher is the showrunner, meaning she leads day-to-day creative decisions. Both write and executive produce. Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre also executive produce through Unwell Productions, alongside author Hannah Grace.

Icebreaker is the first of three novels in Grace's Maple Hills series, set at the fictional University of California, Maple Hills. The book was originally published in 2022, with a wide release in 2023. It has sold nearly 5 million copies worldwide and spent 70 consecutive weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.

The novel became a fan favourite after it was popularised on BookTok, according to Netflix Tudum. Tudum published its own guide to the adaptation, titled "Icebreaker College Romance Series Heats Up the Rink" and written by Ariana Romero. No release date or episode count has been confirmed.

For fans, this means the core group is now in place. The story can be finished on screen only once cameras roll.
