Netflix completes Icebreaker cast with six new series regulars
Netflix has completed the main cast for Icebreaker, its college hockey romance drama.
Six actors have joined as series regulars, meaning main cast members contracted across the season. The announcement, reported by Deadline, fills out the ensemble around the two previously named leads.
Gabriel Tierney will play Aaron. Auliʻi Cravalho will play Lola. Professional athlete and newcomer Peter Berry will play Robbie.
Chaneil Kular joins as JJ. Devin Craig joins as Henry. Aidan Shaw rounds out the group as Russ.
Daisy Jelley and Connor Simos were named on 15 June as the leads, Anastasia Allen and Nate Hawkins, according to TV Insider. The story centres on competitive figure skater Anastasia and hockey team captain Nate. An accident forces their teams to share one rink, which throws the pair together.
The series adapts Hannah Grace’s Icebreaker, the first book in the Maple Hills trilogy. Grace, an English author, first published the novel in November 2022, with a wide release in 2023. It has sold nearly 5 million copies worldwide and spent 70 weeks atop the New York Times bestseller list. Sales across the three-book series have passed 7.5 million copies globally.
Jade Halley Bartlett created the television adaptation and serves as executive producer. Amanda Lasher is showrunner, writer and executive producer, meaning she leads day-to-day creative decisions on the programme. Grace executive produces alongside Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre for Unwell Productions.
Netflix is also tracking the build in its companion piece, “Icebreaker College Romance Series Heats Up the Rink,” published on its Tudum site. For fans, this means the full rink is now set. The central couple is cast, their teammates are in place, and the creative team behind them is confirmed.
