Daniel Webber, Dermot Mulroney and Katheryn Winnick are leading “Compound 9,” a psychological horror-thriller now shooting in Miami, Variety reported on 29 September.

Webber plays Dr. Mark Connors, a military psychiatrist. Mulroney plays Col. Dr. Morton Phillips. Winnick plays Riley, a guarded nurse.

The story is set in the aftermath of the Vietnam War. It follows Marine veterans living with severe psychological trauma inside a remote government facility.

The film takes inspiration from “The Ninth Configuration,” the 1980 film written and directed by William Peter Blatty. That earlier story also centred on troubled veterans gathered in a strange military building.

Behind the camera, “Compound 9” is directed by Rodrigo H. Vila. The script is by Vila, Andy Weiss and Ari Schlossberg.

Lia Rodriguez and Pilar de Posadas are producing through Unfolding Content. Colette Aguilar, Dalila Zaritzky and Vila are executive producers.

Moonrise Media is handling worldwide distribution, which means selling the film territory by territory around the world. The company will show first footage to international buyers at AFM in Los Angeles in November.

AFM is the American Film Market, the annual sales gathering where distributors shop for finished films and works in progress. Moonrise also lists “Compound 9” as in production on its own site.

What makes this stand out for horror fans is the set-up. Three familiar faces. One closed facility. A mystery built around trauma, authority and what is really happening behind locked doors.
