Samara Weaving and Nicholas Braun are set to lead Hivemind, an environmental thriller currently filming in Dublin, according to Deadline.

The film centres on the evolution of a new breed of killer wasps and the small-town authorities who team up to prevent a deadly global outbreak. Irish film-maker Ciarán Foy is directing from a screenplay by Peter Gaffney. Badlands, the production company, acquired the spec script in 2025.

Thunder Road and Badlands are producing, with Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Diarmaid McGrath producing for Thunder Road and Scott Strauss producing for Badlands. Macdara Kelleher and John Keville of Wild Atlantic Pictures join as producers, alongside Adam Rodin and Gaffney himself.

Amazon MGM Studios has boarded the project and plans to stream Hivemind internationally on Prime Video, giving the film a streaming home outside its domestic market — domestic, in industry terms, meaning the United States and Canada. CAA Media Finance and Verve are handling domestic sales. Renegade Capital is backing the film, with Jon Shiffman and Andrew Schwartzberg serving as executive producers.

Weaving has built a reputation across genre fare, from Ready or Not to Scream VI, while Braun is best known for his Emmy-nominated turn as Cousin Greg on Succession. The pairing places a horror-thriller lead opposite a performer steeped in comedy and prestige drama — a combination that gives the casting its texture, though whether the film delivers is a question for reviewers, not this column.

Foy, the Dublin-born director, previously helmed Citadel and Sinister 2, bringing a background in elevated horror to a script that pits local responders against a mutating ecological threat. Dublin's production infrastructure and tax incentives have drawn a steady stream of international shoots in recent years, and Hivemind adds to that pipeline.

No release date has been announced. With Amazon MGM Studios involved and international streaming already secured on Prime Video, the film's distribution path is partly set: a theatrical or streaming premiere in the domestic market will be determined by the domestic sales process now underway through CAA Media Finance and Verve.
