Riley Green Uses First-In Button on 15-Year-Old Allie Rae on The Voice

Riley Green used his First-In button to claim 15-year-old Allie Rae on the Sept. 28 episode of The Voice, pressing after she sang the opening word of her audition, according to Billboard.
Rae, from Santa Fe, Texas, sang Alannah Myles' "Black Velvet" in the blind auditions, the round where coaches listen with their chairs turned away and press to select a singer. Green pressed after the word "Mississippi." One word was enough.
The First-In button is an early-claim option coaches can use during the blind auditions to secure an artist for their team. Green's turn came from the very first note of the performance, according to TV Insider.
Kelly Clarkson and Queen Latifah also turned their chairs for Rae. Adam Levine did not turn, leaving three coaches competing to work with the teenager.
Clarkson compared Rae's voice and vibrato to Dolly Parton and Alison Krauss. She praised the control in Rae's singing and pointed to the natural shake in her tone as a link to both older stars.
Rae named Aretha Franklin, Koko Taylor and Reba McEntire as musical influences. The mix spans soul, blues and country, and she said those singers helped shape how she approaches a song.
The audition was part of The Voice Season 30 blind auditions, Country Rebel reported. The season's coaching panel includes Green, Clarkson, Queen Latifah and Levine.
Green was the last of the four to use the First-In option. Queen Latifah had already used hers on Mia Knight, Clarkson had used hers on Johnnie Kapua and Levine had used his on Amanda Mikkel.
What makes this stand out is the speed. Coaches often listen through a verse or a chorus before they decide. Green made his call before most viewers had settled in.
