Broadway cooled off to $24,093,388 for the week ending September 27, down 11% from $27,070,361 the week before.

Attendance — the count of tickets sold — fell with it. The 26 shows drew 209,194 people, also down 11%, and all but three productions posted lower grosses, meaning money from ticket sales, week over week, according to Deadline.

Hamilton led the street. The musical grossed $2,608,571.

The bump came with a familiar face. Original cast member Christopher Jackson returned as George Washington, a run set to play through January 3. Hamilton also had the week's highest average ticket price, at $243.50, and was one of only two sellouts.

The other return story was at the Lyric Theatre. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child grossed $1,573,469, up $607,271 from the prior week. Tom Felton was back as Draco Malfoy after a week away.

Behind Hamilton, The Lion King was the runner-up at $1,700,873. MJ followed at $1,544,512, then Oh, Mary! at $1,458,262 with Bowen Yang in the title role. Oh, Mary! had the week's second-highest average ticket price at $204.15 and was the week's other sellout. Across all 26 shows, the average ticket price was $115.17.

Only three shows rose. School Girls; Or the African Mean Girls Play grossed $322,044, up $34,290. Paranormal Activity grossed $871,364, up $85,939 over its prior gala week. Roundabout's The Imaginary Invalid, starring Bill Irwin, took in $183,153 for three previews, filling 94% of its seats, with opening night set for October 22.

What makes this stand out is simple. In a down week, two comebacks moved the needle.

The season picture is softer than last year. In the 18th week of the 2026-27 season, the season-to-date gross was $565,480,589, down about 7%, with attendance at 4,680,491, down 2%, according to Deadline.
