Netflix will open October with horror front and centre.

According to Variety, published Sept. 29, the service kicks off Oct. 1 with library favourites including "Dracula," "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein," "Friday the 13th" and "Psycho." Library titles, meaning films Netflix licenses for a window rather than commissions itself. That list is long.

The same Oct. 1 drop adds "Psycho II" and "Psycho III," completing the early run of that franchise on the service. "Ouija" and "Ouija: Origin of Evil" arrive together. So do "The Strangers" and 2013's "Evil Dead."

Variety also notes that "Evil Dead Rise" will join Netflix during October. No day is given in the introduction, only the month. That gives horror fans two entry points across the month.

Comedy and crime fill out the licensed shelf. "21 Jump Street" and "22 Jump Street" are listed as new on Netflix in October 2026, alongside "8 Mile," "A Haunted House" and "A Haunted House 2," according to Tom's Guide. Those are pick-ups for the month, not Netflix originals.

New international films and series land in the first week. Netflix lists "East of Eden," "Crazy Rich, Incredibly Broke" and "The Ramparts of Ice" for Oct. 1, with "#Love" and "Doing Life" following on Oct. 2. "The Ramparts of Ice — Season 2," meaning a second ordered run after the first season, is confirmed to premiere in October.

Mid-month brings drama and more film premieres. Netflix lists "Below" for Oct. 8 and "Animals" for Oct. 9, according to TV Guide. "The Diplomat Season 4," meaning the fourth season of the political drama series, is dated Oct. 15.

Swedish comedy "The Storm" has a two-step release. It will play in selected theatres across Sweden from Oct. 2 before its global premiere on Netflix on Oct. 15, according to Netflix. The streaming date was first announced for Oct. 15 in August and confirmed with a trailer and theatre plan in September.

Not everything stays. Netflix's leaving list for October names "The Boss Baby," "After" and "The Hunger Games." It also names two series, "Dawson's Creek" and "Nurse Jackie," meaning all five leave the service during the month.

For fans, this means timing matters. Catch the departures before they rotate out. Save room from Oct. 1 for the scares.
