Ted Lasso has said goodbye to Mae Green.

The owner of the Crown & Anchor pub, played by Annette Badland, dies in Season 4 Episode 9, titled 'Mae Rides The Bus'. The episode is now streaming on Apple TV and is the second-to-last episode of Season 4, according to Deadline.

The farewell happens on the road. Ted, played by Jason Sudeikis, and Coach Beard, played by Brendan Hunt, invite Mae to ride the team bus to an away game after she says the two-and-a-half-hour drive is difficult at her “level of seasoning”. She dies while supporting the Lady Greyhounds at their away match against Bristol City.

Mae has been a constant presence around AFC Richmond. Ted Lasso follows an American football coach hired by a wealthy divorcée to coach English soccer team AFC Richmond, as listed by Apple TV. The pub has long served as the informal meeting place for supporters, and Mae as its keeper.

Apple TV lists 'Mae Rides The Bus' as dated 30 Sept 2026, with a runtime of 42 minutes and a TV-MA rating. Its synopsis reads: “Morale is low, but the stakes have never been higher.” It adds two short lines: “Mae joins the team on the road” and “Keeley has news.”

Badland told Deadline she did not know Mae’s fate when she signed on for Season 4. She said she learned of the plan around November, about an episode before filming it.

One episode remains in the season. For viewers, that leaves the response to Mae’s death and Keeley’s news to be resolved in the finale.
