Music Services, the services division of SESAC Music Group, has appointed Nick LaPointe as senior director of business development and promoted Jay Sudarma to vice-president of marketing.

Both changes took effect immediately on Tuesday, September 29, the company confirmed Music Business Worldwide.

LaPointe will lead efforts to bring in new clients. His brief covers YouTube administration, the collection of royalties when music is used in videos, alongside publishing and label administration and distribution for artists and labels that own their masters. That last point matters. It means working with creators who control their recordings and need help getting them out and paid.

He arrives with more than two decades in business development, music licensing and publishing. He spent nearly two decades at Warner Chappell Music, where he directed mechanical licensing, the permission to reproduce songs, and YouTube operations. He then served as senior director of business development at AdRev.

Most recently LaPointe held the same senior director title at the Audio Visual Services arm of FUGA. There he led the signing of major and independent music publishers and expanded the company's presence in Nashville.

Sudarma steps up from director of marketing at CCLI Group. She now takes the vice-president title at both CCLI Group and Music Services. In the expanded role she will lead global marketing strategy across the two businesses.

That includes guiding the division's forthcoming rebrand. She will also drive the global rollout of its shared services platform, the joint system through which its brands offer back-office and technical support.

She has spent the past decade at CCLI Group. Her work there has covered brand development, digital marketing, content strategy, website modernisation and cross-functional partnerships.

Music Services provides technology, distribution, licensing and administration services to independent publishers and record labels, as well as collective management organisations and digital brands. Its portfolio includes AudioSalad, Audiam, Music Services Inc., The Harry Fox Agency, HAAWK and CCLI. The division's chief operating officer is Rose Cook.
