At least seven Palestinians were killed and more than 10 wounded in Israeli attacks across Gaza on September 30, 2026.

Six of the dead were killed when an Israeli drone, an uncrewed aircraft guided remotely, struck a passenger van in Tal al-Hawa in southwest Gaza City, according to medical and civil defence sources cited in September 30 reporting. The Palestine Red Crescent Society said its crews carried 13 wounded people to al-Quds Hospital after that strike. That van attack was the deadliest incident of the day. Al Jazeera

Other strikes hit homes and places where displaced families were sheltering. An Israeli attack on a residential apartment near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City killed at least one woman. In southern Gaza, an Israeli drone hit a shelter for displaced people, wounding four Palestinians, including two children. Southeast of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, Israeli forces seriously wounded two Palestinians. Israeli tank fire was also reported in southern Khan Younis.

Gaza's Ministry of Health said the bodies of at least nine people arrived at hospitals in the 24 hours before September 30, with 31 wounded in that period. Since the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, a formal agreement to stop fighting, began in October 2025, at least 1,431 people have been killed and at least 5,026 wounded, according to the ministry. Since October 2023, health officials put the total at at least 74,032 killed and 175,142 wounded. Al Jazeera

Satellite data points to continued destruction. An analysis by the United Nations Satellite Centre in August 2026 found destroyed structures across Gaza had increased by 9 percent since the ceasefire took effect. About 82 percent of structures in Gaza, roughly 200,000 buildings, have been damaged since the war began, according to the United Nations.

The September 30 deaths fit a pattern of smaller lethal incidents through September. On September 28, Israeli strikes killed at least two people in Gaza, including a woman killed in a strike on the rooftop of her building in Gaza City that also wounded her husband and others. On September 23, Israeli airstrikes killed at least four Palestinians, including in a strike on a vehicle in western Khan Younis. Reuters Reuters

Damaged buildings have caused deaths on their own. The collapse of an apartment block in Gaza City left 21 people dead. Authorities later issued an evacuation order for 255 other buildings. Reuters

The Israeli military, in statements without confirmed publication dates and treated here as background, said it struck Hamas launchers in a humanitarian zone, an area designated for civilian safety, in southern Gaza, located and eliminated underground tunnel routes and rocket production facilities, and completed a targeted operation against a Hamas command center in Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabaliya. It also said a series of strikes on targets in Shaboura in the southern Gaza Strip had concluded. IDF Chief of the General Staff LTG Eyal Zamir stated the IDF objectives are the return of the hostages, the decisive defeat of Hamas, and the intensification of strikes against its capabilities. The broader context here is a ceasefire that has not stopped killing or destruction. Eleven months after the October 2025 agreement, daily drone strikes, tank fire and airstrikes continue to cause civilian casualties centered on Gaza City, Deir el-Balah and Khan Younis. Tal al-Hawa, al-Shifa, displacement shelters and the southern humanitarian zone are densely populated. Strikes there carry predictable risks for noncombatants, including children and displaced families, even when the stated targets are vehicles, launchers or command infrastructure.

Looking at what this means for diplomacy, the numbers themselves shape the talks. More than 1,400 dead and more than 5,000 wounded since the ceasefire, plus a 9 percent rise in destroyed structures during a formal truce, leave mediators with little to point to as restraint. For humanitarian planners, ongoing strikes plus 200,000 damaged buildings, with added deaths from collapses and 255 evacuation orders, narrow options for shelter, triage and repair. The question now is whether the ceasefire framework can contain violations or whether it functions as cover for a lower-intensity campaign.
