At Least Seven Killed Across Gaza as Strikes Hit Islamic University Campus

At least seven Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza on October 25, 2026, according to Al Jazeera, and one of the attacks struck a university campus in Gaza City. Three security guards were killed in an Israeli air strike on the Islamic University campus, the second attack on the university within a few hours that day.
Earlier, a drone strike on the same campus injured seven female students with flying shrapnel, the fragments thrown out by an explosion. One of them was seriously injured and taken to a nearby field hospital. Times of Israel reported that Ashraf Dahlan and Shadi Abu Ataya were among the three people killed in the air strike.
The Israel Defense Forces, the Israeli military, has published a press release titled "Why did the IDF strike the Islamic University in Gaza?" It says Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, used the university for military intelligence training, weapons development and terror financing.
Other deaths were reported elsewhere in the territory. Nasser Medical Complex said two people were killed by Israeli shelling in al-Mawasi, in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, and several people were wounded there, including a child. A separate Israeli drone strike killed one person east of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza. In northern Gaza, one person was killed and several others were wounded in an attack on al-Rashid Street near Hamad Hospital.
The Islamic University is one of many academic sites damaged during the war. UNESCO, the United Nations cultural and educational agency, reports that nearly 95 percent of Gaza's higher education campuses have been destroyed or damaged since October 2023.
Gaza's Ministry of Health has reported at least 1,551 people killed and 5,573 injured since a ceasefire, an agreed pause in fighting, began in October 2025. Its figures for the whole war, which began in October 2023, stand at 74,544 killed and at least 175,692 wounded.
